My Last First Day of High School

Senior Year

This year was my very last first day of high school as I started my senior year in the class of 2020. It's both exciting and scary as I know that this year will be one of many lasts as I end this chapter to start a brand new journey of new beginnings.

Change Is Hard But Good

It's especially hard for me, for I'm incredibly close with all my teachers and love the IB program so much. My school system has been a part of my life since 2nd grade and has not only made an impact on me through my education but with almost everything else as well. I've grown up with so many people who have helped me to become who I am today, and I have my mom and dad to thank for that.

With my mom as a teacher in my school system, I've always had such a strong support system as her friends became my teachers. I also love getting to see my mom and dad around the school as I change classes and go to lunch. It was and still is so comfortable, and it's scary knowing that parts of that are going to change when I graduate.

But, change it good, so I will accept this change and look forward to my bright future ahead.

A Different Kind Of First Day

My first day of senior year was both calm and wild. I went to advisement and then to my internship. I went to IB biology and reconnected with my IB family. Then, I went to IB history and to lunch, sitting with all my friends in the new lunchroom. I took pictures with my friends in our senior jerseys and then headed up to my mom's classroom for my independent study. However, my first day of school was cut short because, during 4th block, we left early to leave for South Carolina.

My mom's Italian side of the family was holding the annual family reunion up at Litchfield beach the first week of our school year, so we ended up missing the 2nd and 3rd day of school in order to reunite and celebrate with the family.

Summer's Not Over Yet

Even though the bittersweet first day of my senior year was easygoing and filled with fun, I definitely didn't protest leaving school. I definitely wanted to go to Pawleys Island and extend my summer break, so I could see my family from all over the country.
