A Summer Week with the Parents

A Camp Kid

In June, I got to have one week alone with my mom and dad, for Zooey went away to performing arts camp at Camp Mikell up in Toccoa, Georgia. As much as I knew I’d miss her, I couldn’t wait to get that time alone with my parents.

And She’s Off!

When it was time for Zooey to head off to camp, we said our goodbyes and made sure she had all her luggage, especially all the care packages of candy and notes and food we had put together for her. Once she was gone, we headed back home to begin our week without the little one.

Senior Pictures & Pizza Lunch

That Monday, I had my senior yearbook pictures! Mom took me to get my hair curled, and then, we went to school to get started. They gave me the elegant black cover to drape over me, and I wore my mother’s pearl necklace and my pearl earrings. We couldn’t believe it was all already here and happening.

After the professional picture, mom took me around the school wearing different outfits as she did a little senior photo shoot with me. We took pictures in my senior jersey and in a pretty dress at the school and on the Greenbelt.

After, we were quite hungry, so we decided to go to American Pie! We ate lots of pizza and garlic knots and had a lot of fun. Then, we headed home to watch movies and TV.

Blue Birks, FroYo, & Breakfast

That week, we also got to go shopping. We bought clothes and matching blue Birkenstock sandals that we wore all summer long.

We also got to get frozen yogurt together at 32 Degrees. We would hang out for a bit, walking around the stores, and then go and pick up my dad from work. All the while, we were wearing our matching shoes, of course.

We would also make breakfast for each other in the morning, eating chocolate croissants and drinking pineapple juice.

Trio Week Comes To An End

On the last day of our trio week, mom and I got Longhorn Steakhouse and went to see a movie. At home, we hung out with dad and watched The Bachelorette!

That Saturday, we went to pick up Zooey. We watched their musical showcase, Noah’s Ark, and then, packed her up before heading home. Along the way, we stopped at a bookstore, a pet place, and the mall. At the mall, we actually got to pick up our brand new glasses; we wanted a change!

Overall, I loved getting that time alone with my parents, but really did miss Zooey too. I was so happy to have her back so we could continue our crazy family summer!
