Friday Night (Rave) Lights
A Great Start To The Trojan Season
My family has always looked forward to the very first home football game of the Carrollton Trojans Season. Every year, Carrollton High School hosts a tailgate for the high school teachers and their families. It's filled with food and talking and hyping each other up for the game. This year, the tailgate took place in the Hall of Fame Room, and mom and I were really excited.
Neon Night
For the first home game, the Student Section theme was Rave. For all of high school, I refused to conform and wouldn't wear the themes. Instead, I would wear my traditional Trojan football jersey to support the Trojan Black and Gold. However, for senior year, I decided I wanted to at least try it out and dress up. I chose to look at the themes as a form of school spirit and picked out some neon clothing before we headed out.
Friends, The Student Section, & Peanut M&M's
At the game, I met up with my friend Shelley and her younger sister. Mom went and sat with Mr. Brewer and his family, and Shelley and I tried out sitting in the ocean of bright colors and glitter known as the Student Section. We tried the Student Section for almost 2 full quarters before deciding we weren't that into it; we wanted to sit and watch the game, while the Student Section wanted to stand and talk. But hey, to each their own, right?
We met up with my mom and the Brewers and had way more fun. We ate peanut M&M's and drank Powerade, cheering on the Trojans and laughing with one another (while sitting down).
Some Football Knowledge & A Halftime Show
During the game, Shelley taught me a lot more about football. I knew some things, but apparently, I had been missing quite a lot. Shelley taught me about downs and pointed out various plays and scoring techniques. I learned about the timing of things and what certain players did. It was great!
The halftime show was really awesome too! The other school had a really cool dance team and small band. Our school's band is huge and the wild west show they put on was really interesting and creative.
Winning, Picture Taking, & Talking
After the game, we all went down to the football field and took pictures. We said hello to people we saw and talked about the game for a bit.
Everyone was really happy we had won the first home game and knew it would be a great start to the rest of the season. I was really happy mom and I had went, and I loved getting to try and learn new things with Shelley.
Parting Ways & Heading Home
When we were done taking pictures, we all headed back up to the parking lot. On our way, I talked to and said hey to Cirel and some band people, congratulating them on their performance. Shelley and I then said goodbye and parted ways, with mom and I heading home.
To An Awesome Night & The Beginning Of A Great Senior Season
Overall, it was a really awesome night and a great way to start off the season and year. I can't wait to go to more games during my senior year with family and friends! Yes, I would love to do the themes again, but no, I don't think I'll be sitting in the Student Section. ;D
