Empty Bowls

Carroll County Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Every year, my club, Friends of Rachel, volunteers at the Carroll County Empty Bowls Fundraiser. It is an amazing event filled with pottery making, live music, soup, and ceramic, handmade bowls. It has become a tradition for Friends of Rachel and this year, I get to lead our club as president.

Friends Of Rachel

Every Empty Bowls, we volunteer to help with the event. Some members get put on cleaning duty, selling duty, wrapping duty, washing duty, and many, many more. In the past, I have helped to clean tables, hand out utensils, and wrap up bowls in newspaper. This year, I got to help out by picking up trash with my friend Mikenli, while Zooey wrapped up bowls. It was great getting to volunteer and see the happy faces of kind people supporting those within our community who need it most.

Soup, Bowls, Art, And Music

Empty Bowls is a fundraiser that helps to fight hunger. People who attend the event buy a ticket, and their money goes toward the cause, while they get to eat a homemade soup of their choice, take home a beautiful bowl of their picking, and even take part in an art auction if they so desire, while live music plays in the background. My mother always buys us a few tickets, so after volunteering, my mom, sister, and I get to eat soup and take home a few bowls. This year, we ate a potato soup and tomato basil soup with lots of bread, and we picked out a few beautiful white and blue bowls.

Part Of The Community

Empty Bowls is one of my favorite events within the community, for not only do I get to be with my club while helping out at an important organization, but we also get to contribute to the cause and support local artists. I currently have seven bowls in my room right now that I love to display and keep jewelry in. I look forward to volunteering and adding to my collection every year.

Our club does a fantastic job every year supporting the cause and adding to the happiness and appreciation of the organization and those it helps in tremendous and extremely necessary ways. It feels amazing to be a part of my community, helping in any way I can, and I look forward to next year!
