My First Concert

A Concert Surprise

Last Friday, I got to experience my very first concert. I was able to see Ed Sheeran perform live at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and also got to hear Snow Patrol open for him.

The day before the concert, I was working in my mom's classroom when she suddenly walked in and told me and my sister to listen because our uncle had invited us along with him and his daughter to the concert the next day. At first, it was literally the last thing I wanted to do. I had already made plans with myself to sit on the couch, watch TV, and paint my nails, but Zooey admonished me saying that was really dumb and she wanted to go to the concert with me.

Ed Sheeran?

I had never really listened to Ed Sheeran before, but already knew my music taste was extremely different from his songs. However, to please Zooey, I said I would think about it and continued to work, while going on YouTube to play some of his songs. He still wasn't my favorite singer in the world, but I didn't want to let my sister down and told her I would go with her.

Concert Time

That Friday morning, mom came in and said there was a change in plans. Megan, my cousin, couldn't make it and now my mom was able to come with us. This news brought me great relief,  since I was beginning to get nervous again about going.

After school, we rushed home to change and get ready for the concert, for our uncle told us to be ready right at five. Once he arrived, we said goodbye to our dad and hurried into my Uncle Duane's truck. As we drove to Atlanta, we played some songs belonging to the opening acts.

Once we finally got there and parked, we made the long trek to the the CNN center to find some food and then to the stadium. It was absolutely freezing, windy, and rainy, and we were starving. Once we finally got to the CNN center for dinner, we searched for a place to sit and ate some subway.

Thank You Neighbor

After dinner, came more freezing walking all the way to gate one to get our tickets. After we made it there, we hurried inside to find some warmth and ask for directions to our seats. It turned out our tickets were not normal seating arrangements, but they were fancy box suite seats.

A new neighbor had recently moved in down the street form my uncle and became close with each others families. Said neighbor is actually the famous singer Khalid's manager, and is given amazing tickets to shows all the time.Uncle Duane's neighbor was kind enough to give him the tickets since he was currently abroad on work.

Courteney Cox!?

When we finally made it to the box suite, we took our seats and looked out over all the people. The place was enormous, and I was finally excited to be there. Before the show actually started, Zooey ran up to me and said something pretty shocking. She yelled at me that the small family that shared our suite with us was Courteney Cox and her family! We were sharing our private room with a star! I couldn't believe it, but Zooey told me that she quizzed the actress and it really was her. Before we could do anything about it, the show began and the crowd went wild for the main production.

Absolutely Breathtaking

Throughout the concert, I was amazed by the technology, lights, crowd, and music. The whole stadium filled with colors and singing and the air vibrated with the lyrics and beat of each song. Ed Sheeran sounded much better live, and I really loved his personality on stage. The music was lively and contagious, and the whole event was absolutely breathtaking.

Too Quick To Judge

At the end, I learned to love the small, redhead known as Ed Sheeran, and I realized I was too quick to judge him and his music; I was very grateful Zooey and mom convinced me to go!

Before we headed out, we went up to Courteney Cox and asked if we could take a picture with her, but then we saw that her boyfriend, a singer in Snow Patrol, was also there and we got to take a picture with both of them!

Overall, it was an amazing night and an eventful first concert that I am so thankful for. I can't wait to experience more concerts, even though my mom said that concerts were probably ruined for me since they don't all come with fancy suite seats and Courteney Cox.
