Happy Valentine’s Day: The Blind Date With A Book Event! On February 14th, 2020, my IB CAS Project, Blind Date with a Book, finally took place! I arrived with my mom and sister at the media center at around 7:50 AM as people crowded around the doors to enter for the event at 8:00 AM. Inside, I met up with Karolay and Mrs. Lawler around the pay station table in the library filled with my flyers and some balloons. Then, we took pictures as a group, with family, and with our Principal Mr. Brooks, surrounded by all our hard work of 172 wrapped, labeled, and decorated books and Valentine’s Day decorations! And, At Long Last, It Begins!  We opened the doors, and the crowd rushed in! People headed straight for the display and started reading the many organized choices. I sat with Karolay at the table as customers brought us their money to buy stacks of books. We received many complements and praise for our amazing event and cause that so many loved.  My mom and sister were there as t...

CAS Project Preparation: Blind Date with a Book!!

My Creative & Active Service Project Preparation For my senior International Baccalaureate Diploma Program CAS Project, I am leading the annual Valentine's Day Blind Date with a Book. This event takes place all day in the Media Center of my school on Valentine's Day as it centers around the themes of not judging a book by its cover and loving to read as fellow bibliophiles, earning money for a great cause: the Ferst Foundation! I knew I would love getting my community to come together and donate money to charity, the Ferst Foundation encouraging and advancing childhood literacy as they help to place books in the hands of children so they become more productive adults. I knew getting to look over and wrap hundreds of books would be an incredibly fun experience for...

Senior Homecoming Honor! Every fall, Carrollton High School celebrates Homecoming! It's a week filled with dressing up, spirit, celebration, and honor. This year's Homecoming was extra special, for it was my very last one; my senior Homecoming in which I would be honored. During Homecoming, all the clubs and organizations at our school choose a Sweetheart, one significant senior to represent their entire group, for the whole school system and community to see and honor during that week's Homecoming Friday. It is a very special week that the whole school looks forward to every year! This year, my senior Homecoming, I was chosen as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Sweetheart! It was such an incredible honor as I got to represent the school, my IB family, and the well-rounded, open-minded, and worldly program known as IB. Sunday: Homecoming Trojan Wars Kickoff   As Sweetheart, I participated in every Homecoming event and dress-up day, starting with the Sunday ...
